As part of their new campaign to increase awareness, the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) is now sponsoring short educational videos.

Earlier this month, the ABIH announced that they had launched a campaign to bring to light the efforts of the organization and make people aware of the many ways that Certified Industrial Hygienists (CIHs) protect and enhance the health and safety of people at work and in the communities.  As a component of this new campaign, the ABIH is helping to sponsor educational videos about a variety of health, safety, and environmental topics.

To effectively reach the public and various industries through online videos the ABIH has become a sponsor of videos made by the IAQ Video Network. The IAQ Video Network produces short weekly videos about issues related to exposure to environmental contaminants, pathogens and health and safety issues found in the workplace and home.  The videos are typically two to three minutes in length and although they are designed for viewing by the general public, have created a following with many in the industrial hygiene and environmental industries.

To date, the ABIH has sponsored three videos covering issues as diverse as hexavalent chromium in the workplace to understanding more about seasonal influenza.  Over 1,000 people daily download the educational videos produced by the IAQ Video Network.  At the end of the videos the ABIH logo and contact information is available to viewers to learn more.

“The ABIH’s support of these videos is yet another way for us to reach thousands of people each week,” reported Tracy Parsons, CIH, Administrative Program Manager at ABIH.   “Harnessing the power of online videos is part of our overall online strategy to educate people about the ABIH and influence people in hiring positions to engage CIHs for roles that involve health and safety issues.”
