WEBWIRE

Valhalla, N.Y., April 23, 2012 – FUJIFILM North America Corporation today announced that it has been awarded two 2012 Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) Awards for excellence in two digital camera categories - Best Compact System Camera Professional Award for the FUJIFILM X-Pro1 interchangeable lens digital camera system and Best Superzoom Camera Award for the FUJIFILM X-S1 digital camera. The TIPA Awards, which are globally recognized, are seen as the most coveted photo and imaging awards presented worldwide.

“We are honored to receive these two awards from TIPA, and we are proud of our outstanding X-Series digital cameras that are the hallmarks of Fujifilm’s commitment to superior craftsmanship and extraordinary image quality,” said Go Miyazaki, division president, Imaging and Electronic Imaging Divisions, FUJIFILM North America Corporation. “The response to the FUJIFILM X-Pro1 interchangeable lens system and the mega long-zoom FUJIFILM X-S1 digital cameras has been amazing; and for professionals and advanced amateurs, we view these products as a way to move their level of photography forward while achieving beautiful, high resolution results.”

TIPA Best Compact System Camera Professional Award — FUJIFILM X-Pro1
The FUJIFILM X-Pro1 won the TIPA award in recognition of its Hybrid Multi Viewfinder, which allows users to freely switch between the optical viewfinder (OVF) and electronic viewfinder (EVF), and automatically selects the OVF magnification and frame size according to the focal length of the attached lens (for wide-angle and standard focal lengths). The recognition is also given to the 16.3-megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS Sensor, which uses a color filter array with enhanced aperiodicity to control moiré and false color generation without requiring a low-pass filter, thereby achieving very high image quality.

TIPA Best Superzoom Camera Award — FUJIFILM X-S1
The FUJIFILM X-S1 received the TIPA award for its long-zoom lens that covers a wide focal range from super-macro with the minimum working distance of 1cm to a super-telephoto length of 624mm thanks to its excellent FUJINON Super EBC 26x zoom 24-624mm lens and its large 2/3-inch 12 megapixel EXR CMOS sensor that delivers premium image quality. The X-S1 also received recognition for being a pioneering bridge camera that offers the ergonomics and features of a full-featured DSLR including full manual controls, RAW support and full 1080p HD video with stereo sound.
