Lucent Technologies joins with ASSA ABLOY Asia Pacific to Deliver End-to-End Security Solutions


Network security leader Lucent teams with Swedish security giant to market to major airport and other security initiatives

JUNE 20, 2006, COMMUNICASIA, SINGAPORE EXPO, BOOTH #5B2-07 -- Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) and ASSA ABLOY Asia Pacific, a division within ASSA ABLOY, the world’s leading manufacturer and supplier of locking solutions, today announced that they are working together to create end-to-end, integrated physical and network security solutions targeted at governments, large corporations, airports, hotels and universities, with a market focus initially in the Asian region.

As a part of a joint-marketing approach, Lucent and ASSA ABLOY Asia Pacific will offer a complete security solution that incorporates high physical security with state-of-the art electronic security in a tightly integrated, secured network environment.

The Lucent-ASSA ABLOY solution combines the physical security solution offered by ASSA ABLOY including identification technology, automatic doors and electric door locking systems, with network integration and security services offered by Lucent. Lucent combines its communications technology solutions in home networking and broadband WI-FI with security solutions including network assessments and Security Network Operations centers. The joint-solution delivers true end-to-end security that protects both access to a customer’s physical structure as well as access to its network infrastructure.

According to a Jan. 17, 2006 report by Credit Suisse, the global security market represents some US $120 billion in annual sales. The United States and Europe account for 65 percent of this market, with other parts of the world, including Asia, accounting for 35 percent.
