The Artist: 5 Oscars and 6 César


The 84th Academy Awards ceremony was held last night in Los Angeles. Michel Hazanavicius’s The Artist, co-produced by the Orange subsidiary Studio 37 and La Petite Reine, won 5 Oscars.
Last Friday, at the 37th César Awards Ceremony, the French equivalent to the Oscars, The Artist also took home 6 awards.

The Artist wich already won three Golden Globes, 7 Baftas, the Goya Award for Best European Film and Best Actor at Cannes for Jean Dujardin, becomes the French film the most outdone by the cinema’s story with more than 70 awards.

Distributed by Warner and released in France on 12 October 2011, the film has had more than 2,1 million viewers, including nearly 500,000 since its cinema re-release on 25 January.Released in countries around the world, including the United States, Britain and Spain, the film continues to enjoy huge international popularity.

The film is still on cinema release and will be out on DVD on 14 March in France.

Studio 37
