Worcester, MA. October 20, 2011. Metech Recycling, a certified e-Stewards recycler®, has become a Sponsor of the State Electronics Challenge (SEC). The Challenge is a voluntary program that encourages tribal, state, regional, and local governments to reduce the environmental impact of electronic equipment throughout its lifecycle, including recycling with a certified recycler. Certified recyclers are regularly audited by third-party certification entities to validate electronics are recycled to the highest environmental standards.

“We are delighted to have Metech’s support and participation in the State Electronics Challenge,” Challenge Program Manager, Lynn Rubinstein, said. “Metech Recycling has demonstrated its commitment to responsible recycling by achieving certified e-Stewards recycler® status. Its support of the Challenge is yet another way in which Metech Recycling has distinguished itself as one of the leading electronics recyclers in the U.S.”

The State Electronics Challenge recognizes that collectively, state and local government purchase more than $35 billion* worth of technology equipment annually, and there is an opportunity to provide leadership in the environmentally sound and cost-effective management of electronic assets. The Challenge provides free support and recognition to tribal, state, local, and regional government agencies to become leaders and face the new challenges posed by this waste stream. Currently there are government entities in 28 states, representing more than 100,000 employees, participating in the Challenge.

“The State Electronics Challenge is a great resource to help government entities understand the environmental and economic benefits of using certified electronics recyclers,” stated Chris Ryan, President of Metech Recycling. “We believe supporting the Challenge is another way we can protect environmental resources and promote responsible electronics recycling.”
