Displaying OAAA Memorial Creative, More Than 450 Digital Billboards in 23 Markets Across the United States of America to “Pause and Reflect”

Additional 300-Plus Boards to Join the September 11th Tribute Movement

WHO: Clear Channel Outdoor (NYSE: CCO), the world’s largest outdoor advertising company with close to one million displays in 45 countries across five continents, and the Outdoor Advertising Association of America, Inc. (OAAA), the lead trade association representing the outdoor advertising industry.

WHAT: Clear Channel Outdoor will observe a digital out-of-home (OOH) moment of silence for one hour and 17 minutes on September 11th. More than 450 of Clear Channel’s digital billboards in 23 markets across the nation will display the OAAA’s rotating memorial ad creative, reading “Pause and Reflect,” to commemorate the moments on September 11, 2001 during which American Airlines Flight 11 collided into the World Trade Center’s landmark North Tower, United Airlines Flight 175 impacted the South Tower, American Airlines Flight 77 hit the western side of the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, and United Airlines Flight 93 crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Following the digital moment of silence, the creative content will run once per minute throughout the duration of the day.

In addition to the digital OOH moment of silence, more than 300 of Clear Channel Outdoor’s billboards across 15 markets will join the tribute movement. The boards will either display the “Pause and Reflect” campaign on September 11th or the OAAA’s “National Day of Service and Remembrance” campaign, which is currently ongoing in regular rotation until September 11th. The “National Day of Service and Remembrance” campaign highlights positive ways that Americans and others can observe the anniversary of 9/11 by performing good deeds, supporting charitable causes, volunteering and engaging in other acts of compassion.

WHY: As an effective medium with the power to capture the attention of millions of people on a daily basis, Clear Channel Outdoor would like to offer a digital OOH tribute in remembrance of the lives of those who were tragically lost and those who were injured during the September 11th attacks. Moreover, this period of silent contemplation and positive support is meant to honor the brave men and women who are in service to our country protecting our life and freedom, and to the countless volunteers who donated their time in the rescue and recovery efforts in the days, weeks and months after the unspeakable acts of destruction.

WHEN: The “Pause and Reflect” digital OOH moment of silence campaign will appear on Sunday, September 11, 2011 between 8:46 a.m. and 10:03 a.m. EST.
