Delafield Launches QR Code Promotion at its annual Block Party, July 8 & 9 “A Winning Adventure”
DELAFIELD, Wis.— On July 8th and 9th, visitors to the annual Delafield Block Party: Food and Music Festival can win one of two $250 top prizes or one of 20 instant win food and beverage tickets by scanning QR Codes displayed at more than 40 locations throughout the festival and other Delafield hotspots. Delafield is one of the first cities in the country to use this innovative technology to promote visitor interaction throughout its community event.
To be part of the fun, visitors simply need a smartphone and a QR Code reader app, which can be downloaded for free at www.getreader.com. Festivalgoers scan the QR Code, and it automatically links them to a mobile-optimized entry form they can submit for entry to win the $250 prize. Or they may be alerted that they are an instant winner and they can go to the red information tent on the festival grounds, with the instant win screen still displayed, to pick up their instant win prize, $10 of block party food and beverage tickets. Each QR Code is only good for one scan per person, but participants can scan as many codes as they find – the more QR Codes scanned, the more entries entered to win!
The QR Codes, which are high contrast, square, two-dimensional barcodes, are often described as printed graphics that link to online content. The codes are scanned with a smart phone camera using the phone’s QR Code reader app. Find the codes throughout Friday and Saturday at:
– Over 40 designated signs on the grounds of Delafield’s Block Party and at other Delafield hotspot locations, including the Lake Country Art Festival, Saturday, July 9 (9am-4pm) at Naga-waukee County Park.
– On T-shirts worn by Block Party volunteers working at the festival
– On special coupons given out with every food and drink ticket purchase at the Block Party - up to 2,500 (no purchase necessary).
– Around local establishments
Held in Delafield’s Williamsburg-styled downtown, the Delafield block party is a free, family-friendly community event that features live music and skylight dining under the stars with delicious menu items and beverages from local favorites. The Block party opens on Friday at 5pm and on Saturday at 4pm. Nearby stores, boutiques, and restaurants offer great places to shop and relax all day, and well into the evening.
Friday night, groove to live music from Higbee Higbee, followed by Mike Miller and the Piles of Rhythm. On Saturday, it’s popular bands Loose Change and The Eddie Butts Band.
Festivalgoers should plan to stick around because the winners of the $250 prize package will be announced on stage at 9pm, each night. For more information, go to visitdelafield.org.
