The Integrative Healing Society (www.ihsociety.com) is now offering its fourth annual Chinese medicine tour. The two-week program will be held in Hangzhou, China from October 10 – 21, 2011. The course is open to both students and professionals of Chinese medicine.

For the clinical training participants in the program will study at university hospitals located throughout Hangzhou. The clinical portion of the program includes 30 hours of observation with senior level doctors and it gives students the opportunity to witness how complex conditions are treated with Chinese medicine. Participants in the program may choose to study acupuncture, Chinese herbs, or tuina. For those that choose to study herbal medicine they may select from several departments including internal medicine, pediatrics, dermatology, gastro-enterology, or respiratory therapy.

For those that choose clinical studies in acupuncture they will see how neurological conditions are treated in China. “Most of the patients we see in the acupuncture department are being treated for strokes, Bells palsy, pain, or spinal conditions,” said James Spears the founder of the Integrative Healing Society.

Besides the clinical training, participants in the tour will also receive 20 hours of lecture given by various professors and specialists from the university. Lecture topics include the treatment of neurological conditions, gynecology, and injuries of the soft tissues. During the lectures students will be taught pattern identification, treatment strategies, specialized techniques, and point prescriptions.

In addition to organizing tours to China, the Integrative Healing Society also offers an online acupuncture course termed “Meridian Circuit Systems: A Channel Based Approach to Pattern Identification.”
