New York Philharmonic’s Company, Starring Neil Patrick Harris, to be Filmed for Theatrical Release

For musical theater lovers who didn’t score tickets to the New York Philharmonic’s upcoming mounting of Stephen Sondheim’s Company, you’re in luck: The star-studded concerts, to be performed April 7-9 at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall, will be filmed live and shown in movie theaters in June, according to The New York Times. No additional details about the film release were reported.

Broadway and TV favorite Neil Patrick Harris stars in the central role of Bobby, a single, middle-aged New Yorker who spends his time observing the relationships of his married, engaged and divorced friends. Joining Harris as Bobby’s love interests are Tony winners Anika Noni Rose as Marta and Katie Finneran as the excitable Amy, plus Mad Men leading lady Christina Hendricks as flirtatious flight attendant April. Martha Plimpton and Stephen Colbert will play Bobby’s married friends, Sarah and Harry, Two and a Half Men star Jon Cryer will play David, and Tony winner Patti LuPone stars as the sardonic Joanne, with Jim Walton as her husband, Larry. The cast also includes Craig Bierko as Peter, Aaron Lazar as Paul, Jill Paice as Susan, Jennifer Laura Thompson as Jenny and Chryssie Whitehead as Kathy.

Featuring music and lyrics by Sondheim and a book by George Furth, Company will be performed by the Philharmonic using Jonathan Tunick’s original orchestrations.The production will be directed by Lonny Price and conducted by Paul Gemignani.
