Leading German IT Full-Service Provider Chooses Nimsoft to Unify Monitoring of Critical Infrastructure and Applications

operational services GmbH & Co. KG Improves Systems Availability and Response Times by Replacing Multiple Tools with NMS

Campbell, Calif. - Nimsoft today announced that operational services GmbH & Co. KG, a joint venture between T-Systems International GmbH and Fraport AG, Germany’s leading airport management company, has deployed the Nimsoft Monitoring Solution (NMS) to monitor its complex, high performance data center infrastructure.

operational services (OS) runs the critical applications that support core operations such as flight scheduling, security, and facilities management for Frankfurt Airport and other clients. Its data center includes more than 800 physical and virtual servers.

Uptime and reliability of an organization’s IT infrastructure are essential. Minute-to-minute operations at Frankfurt Airport—one of the biggest and busiest travel hubs in Europe—and OS’s other clients depend on the responsiveness and reliability of applications running in OS’s data center.

NMS enables OS to monitor its specialized applications and systems from a single, unified console. This unified monitoring simplifies IT management and enables OS to respond much more rapidly to any issues that might interrupt critical services.

OS selected NMS for its ability to unify monitoring of diverse infrastructure components, ease of use and deployment, and rich feature set, which includes SLA reporting, customizable probes and automated alerting.

Prior to deploying NMS, OS used multiple legacy monitoring solutions which were not well integrated with each other.

“Before deploying NMS, we had to use half a dozen different monitoring solutions to keep an eye on all the ‘moving parts’ in our data center,” said Christian Petsch, team coordinator of system management and tools at OS. “With NMS, we can consolidate data from all of our systems, so we have deeper insight into our environment and can be much more proactive about heading off potential problems, no matter how small or subtle they might appear to be.”

OS adds to the growing number of IT service providers turning to Nimsoft for their particularly demanding data center monitoring needs.

“Service providers like OS face special IT monitoring challenges, because they have to support service delivery to multiple clients and have a much more dynamic data center environment than the typical standalone enterprise,” said Gary Read, Nimsoft CEO. “NMS meets these challenges by consolidating tools, and making it easier for service providers to adaptively monitor complex and dynamic environments―so they can exceed their clients’ service-level requirements, while controlling their own cost of operations.”
