Austin, TX – Kelley Glover, an internationally renowned musician and teacher that has taken part in concert events with the likes of comedian Bill Cosby and musical giants Bonnie Raitt and Kris Kristofferson, unveils her exciting new online music education series “U BETTER Sing!” at a premiere launch event and silent auction on Saturday, Nov. 20. Support for “U BETTER Sing!” is needed and can be provided as an attendee, silent auction donor or through a monetary contribution.

“U BETTER Sing!” teaches fundamental music concepts geared toward 8-14 year olds for music educators and home-schooled families in each episode. This show will help educate young people and empower them through musical literacy – one of Glover’s many goals. The event itself will act as a launching pad for the online music education series, giving interested parties a chance to hear and feel what “the buzz” is all about.

As part of the exciting premiere launch, live performances from the “U BETTER Sing!” cast and the Austin Children’s Choir will take place.

Glover, creator and executive director of “U BETTER Sing!” and its webcasts, has received a big boost from Austin-based PBS station KLRU by expressing its intention to air the series through the KLRU.TV website. The show will help KLRU’s young audience become more acquainted with musical sight reading and overall musical literacy, too.

Through the cartoon “U BETTER Sing!” and its ensuing webcasts, topics intertwined with musical literacy include how to deal with bullying and accept differences among people.
Also highlighted is helping young people select careers and vocations that bring personal joy and zest for life.

This innovative program teaches fundamental music concepts in a fun and engaging way by weaving together clever storylines, interesting characters, interactive web games, and edutainment outreach.

Educators, teachers and a cross-section of society will all benefit from this incredible timely series.

One great facet of “U BETTER Sing!” will feature individuals from all walks of life and how part- and/or full-time careers in the arts are making their lives worthwhile. In fact, the initial webcast highlights an individual who is a dentist by day and rock music guitarist at night.

Glover earned a bachelor’s in music education from Howard University and a master of arts in music education from the Eastman School of Music. As an elementary and middle school choral director, Glover’s students have been selected to perform and record songs with internationally known musical group Sweet Honey in the Rock. Glover herself has performed nationally and internationally as a professional Balinese gamelan percussionist. She also has sung and performed with notable actors and artists like Denzel Washington, Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis, Ruthie Foster and Pat Benatar, among many others.

“U BETTER Sing!” will hold its premiere screening and fundraiser from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, at Unity Church of the Hills located at 9905 Anderson Mill Road. Visit them online at www.unityhills.org for directions.
