It’s Back to School but for Some it’s Back to Mold and IAQ Problems

August is the time of year that millions of children across the country begin the new school year. Many school districts use the summer months to conduct maintenance and renovation projects since buildings are unoccupied. While this activity is necessary for building maintenance and classroom improvements, some work may produce aerosolized dust and debris with microbial contamination.

Unfortunately, indoor air quality (IAQ) problems occur often in schools. Not only can construction and repair projects initiate problems, but many school building are older facilities that are prone to leaks and plumbing problems.
