Atlanta, UPS (NYSE:UPS) today announced it has become the official package delivery and logistics sponsor of the Southeastern Conference and all SEC Championship events.

The contract, which was negotiated through SEC Sports Marketing, an IMG College Property, will run through June 2013.

The sponsorship provides UPS with official corporate sponsor status including category exclusive use of conference logos, marketing rights, SEC television and web presence, event signage and merchandise. Additionally, the company will have a category exclusive presence at the Dr. Pepper SEC FanFare during the Conference’s annual football championship weekend and men’s basketball tournament. These two events, held in conjunction with the respective SEC Championships, draw more than 60,000 fans each year.

“The SEC’s commitment to higher education, its large and devoted fan base and its history of producing championship teams make our association a great complement to UPS’s sponsorship of the NCAA,” said Ron Rogowski, UPS vice president, global sponsorships & events. “Our sponsorship with the SEC will provide substantial B2B opportunities for UPS as well as an exciting platform for customer hospitality and employee recognition at some of the premier college sporting events in the country.”

With a total base of more than 172 million fans, 29 million of whom earn more than $100,000 a year, the college market’s fan base provides a key consumer audience for companies like UPS.

“We are excited to have UPS join our SEC corporate sponsor family, both in terms of the expanded transportation and logistics services they will provide the conference as well as the additional prestige they will bring our organization,” said SEC Commissioner Mike Slive. “UPS’s leadership position in the logistics industry coupled with its demonstrated commitment to educational and other philanthropic efforts ties into the SEC’s mission of impacting the world through higher education and intercollegiate athletics. To have an affiliation with a highly regarded global company like UPS is a great compliment to our program and to the schools in our league.”

“We are proud to add UPS as a corporate sponsor of the Southeastern Conference,” added Lawton Logan, senior vice president, Collegiate Properties, IMG College. “We are confident of UPS’s ability to deliver a positive experience to our fans and look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship over the next three years.”
