Lion King Resident Director Paul Stancato Ends Four-Year Run to Pursue New Projects

Paul Stancato, Resident Director for Disney’s The Lion King National Tour, pursues new opportunities with a new musical based on artist Jean Michele Basquiat.

New York, NY – New York director and choreographer, Paul Stancato, announced today that after four years as the Resident Director for Disney’s The Lion King National Tour he will be leaving the tour to pursue new creative endeavors.
“I’ve had such a wonderful experience with The Lion King. I will take with me not only fond memories, but also lasting friendships I’ve forged with the cast and crew” said Stancato. I feel it’s time for me to start the next chapter of my life, both personally and professionally.”

Stancato is scheduled to direct a benefit concert produced by Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights Aids in June, as well as work on developing a new musical based around the artist, Jean Michele Basquiat. “It’s an exciting time for me and I am looking forward to new projects and adventures.”

Paul Stancato is an award-winning director/ choreographer who has worked with directors Julie Taymor (Lion King, Spiderman Turn Off the Dark), John Rando (Urinetown, The Wedding Singer) and director/ choreographer Rob Ashford (Promises Promises, Thoroughly Modern Millie).
