Flow Dynamics Announces April 2010 Flow Measurement Training Classes
Courses help end-users select the best flow meter for industrial applications
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., January 7, 2009 — Flow Dynamics, Inc. a leading global provider of primary standard, NIST-traceable flow calibration equipment and services, will conduct liquid and gas flow measurement training classes during April 2010 at its facility in Scottsdale, Arizona. The classes are intended for managers, engineers, technicians and QA/QC personnel seeking a greater understanding basic flow measurement principles and application considerations.
A three-day liquid flow measurement training class will be offered on April 14-16, and a three-day gas flow measurement training class will held on April 19-21. These courses were prepared with the job requirements of system design and production personnel in mind, and offer practical, “hands-on” instruction in a wide range of flow-related disciplines.
Students attending a Flow Dynamics training course will enrich their knowledge of flow measurement technology and learn how to apply the latest flow meter designs in industrial applications. Classes include a thorough overview of flow meter selection, with advantages and disadvantages of each technology, as well as guidelines for meter usage.
In particular, attendees at the liquid course will gain an understanding of density and viscosity effects on flow meter performance. Those participating in the gas course will learn about Gas Law calculations and how they apply to gas flow measurements.
The course curriculum also includes in in-depth discussion of the methods and equipment necessary for precision primary and secondary standard flow meter calibration.

About Flow Dynamics
Located in Scottsdale, Arizona USA, Flow Dynamics’ 32,000 square foot facility was specially designed to accommodate high flow capacity calibration equipment. Having a large 100 cubic-foot Primary Standard Bell Prover, with a 1,500 SCFM capacity, makes FDI unique in its gas calibration capability. FDI also owns and operates a 1,250 GPM Primary Standard Positive Displacement Liquid Calibrator to accommodate large meters. The company’s calibrators provide ranges from 0.001 to 1500 SCFM in air with the ability to run a variety of gases up to 300 SCFM and use correlation/simulation for more hazardous gases up to 1500 SCFM. Additionally, it provides secondary sonic nozzle banks, which deliver up to 3,000 SCFM. Liquid calibrations range from 0.0025 to 1,250 GPM in hydrocarbon blends.
Flow Dynamics’ fully-equipped, primary standard flow laboratory is NVLAP, ISO/IEC 17025:2005 and ANSI/NSCL Z540 accredited. No other calibration facility offers a more complete calibration solution for today’s flowmeter user. Learn more at http://www.flow-dynamics.com.
