Centrica scoops CSR Online Award
Centrica has won first place in the Corporate Social Responsibility Online Awards UK 2009 - an independent ranking of the best online CSR communications from the largest companies in the FTSE 100 index.
The awards, conducted by communications consultancy, Lundquist, ranked Centrica as the top performer due to high scores for interactivity and navigability. It was also noted that the company dedicates ample space to CSR hot topics, stakeholders and to its environmental commitment.
Simon Henderson, Centrica’s Director of Corporate Responsibility, said: “We’ve made significant strides forward in reporting across the business, so we’re delighted that we have again been recognised for this. However, we know that there’s more to do and we are committed to maintaining our leadership position.”
This latest award follows Centrica’s ranking as the top performing UK utility by the Carbon Disclosure Project, an independent not-for-profit organisation holding the largest database of corporate climate change information in the world. The company’s score put it in the top 25 companies in the world for carbon emissions disclosure.
The research revealed that British companies performed better than their international peers.
