FALLS CHURCH, Va.- CSC (NYSE: CSC) announced today that its U.S.- based Security Testing and Certification Laboratory has been accredited by the National Institute of Standards and Technology to offer and perform Cryptographic Module Validation Program (CMVP) conformance testing. The lab is accredited to the International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005 “Cryptographic and Security Testing.” This new offering enables customers to undergo two separate evaluations, Common Criteria and CMVP, in one location at the same time.

Cryptography is the conversion of data into a secret code to provide data security; however weak algorithms and poorly designed modules can compromise product security and put information at risk. CMVP conformance testing is used to confirm that the cryptographic modules, and its underlying algorithms, are functioning as they are supposed to against an established family of standards. Once modules have been validated in accordance with Federal Information Processing Standards security requirements, they can be accepted by federal agencies in both the United States and Canada for the protection of sensitive information.

“This prestigious and highly sought after testing accreditation adds to CSC’s robust global security capabilities and will benefit our clients across commercial, international and public sector markets,” said Aaron Fuller, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector Enforcement, Security and Intelligence Group. “We are now among the few accredited companies with the ability to offer and perform this crucial service.”

CSC’s cyber expertise extends across the defense and intelligence agencies and commercial enterprises in banking, healthcare, manufacturing, telecommunications and energy. CSC protects the networks of some of the world’s major global corporations. For more information about CSC’s cyber solutions, visit www.csc.com/security.
