Singapore Illusionists are First Asian Magicians to Grace Cover of Europe’s Largest Magic Magazine

Singapore – 2009 Merlin Award winners for “Original Illusionists of the Year”, J C Sum & ‘Magic Babe’, will be the first ever Asian magicians to be featured on the cover of Magicseen magazine, Europe’s largest magic magazine. The illusion duo will be gracing the cover of the Nov 2009 issue 29 of the magic trade magazine.

The cover story will feature an in-depth interview and exclusive photos from various projects and shows. Singapore’s celebrity magic duo discusses their achievements over the last twelve months, their professional relationship, career experiences and approaches to promoting themselves in traditional and new media.

Founded in 2005, Magicseen is a bi-monthly magazine that features articles on magic and interviews with the world’s leading magicians, illusionists and mind readers. The previous issue 28 featured David Copperfield as the first American magician to be on the cover of the publication. In recent years, J C Sum & ’Magic Babe’ Ning have cemented themselves as Asia’s elite magic duo through their mega illusion events and illusion shows.

Their mega illusions include teleporting up a 50-storey skyscraper in 5 seconds, teleporting 3 spectators across the iconic Singapore River in 2.5 seconds and teleporting a car in 8.5 seconds. There are also the current world record holders for “Most Number of Illusions Performed in 5 Minutes”.

Channel News Asia highlighted that they represent “The New Faces of an Age-Old Art Form” and The Straits Times acknowledged them as “Asia’s most famous illusionists”.

In July 2009, the International Magicians Society (U.S.A.) awarded the duo coveted Merlin Awards for “Original Male & Female Illusionist of the Year” (respectively). They are the first Singapore illusionists to be awarded Merlin Awards. Past winners of the Merlin award include David Copperfield, Criss Angel, Siegfried & Roy and Penn & Teller.
