Continues Industry Leadership as First SSL VPN to Earn Certification

SUNNYVALE, Calif., February 27, 2006 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: JNPR), today announced that its Secure Access (SA) product line is the industry’s first SSL VPN appliance to achieve Common Criteria certification. This achievement demonstrates Juniper Networks’ commitment to meeting the rigorous requirements of government and commercial organizations worldwide for advanced secure and assured remote employee and partner access.

“Juniper Networks is acutely aware of the increased focus on information technology security by government organizations around the world,” said Thomas Kreidler, vice president, Juniper Federal Systems, Juniper Networks. “Certifications such as these enable government decision makers to impartially evaluate products against a rigorous list of security requirements. As the first vendor in the market to achieve Common Criteria certification for an SSL VPN product, Juniper Networks continues to demonstrate its leadership in security validation and assurance.”

The Common Criteria certification serves as an independent, impartial security evaluation that verifies the functional reliability and security of the Juniper Networks SSL VPN products. The National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP), the Common Criteria Evaluation and Validation Scheme (CCEVS) and the Common Criteria Recognition Arrangement (CCRA) awarded the certification on February 16, 2006.

“Continuing advances in communications technology as well as increasing complexity in threats to our communications infrastructure have piled more risks on the plate of the government IT manager,” said Ray Bjorklund, senior vice president and chief knowledge officer of market research firm FedSources of McLean, Virginia. “It’s reassuring to government purchasers that some of the security risks can be mitigated by selecting Common Criteria products that have been subjected to rigorous independent testing.”

Security-conscious customers, such as federal government agencies, utilize Common Criteria certification as a determining factor in making purchasing decisions. To date, 22 countries have adopted and recognize the Common Criteria certification, allowing governmental and commercial organizations operating in these nations to purchase information technology products with the confidence that they are in compliance with widely accepted security standards.

In use at many federal government and state and local agencies, as well as in thousands of private sector enterprises worldwide, the Juniper Networks Secure Access SSL VPN appliances provide secure and assured remote employee and partner access to sensitive IT resources - enabling personnel to perform their jobs in a productive fashion from virtually any location with a Web browser. The product line enables dynamically controlled granular, access to different user constituencies with end-to-end security features without the need for client-software deployment, changes to internal servers, and costly ongoing client support and maintenance.

The Juniper Networks SSL VPN appliances have achieved Common Criteria certification at Evaluation Assurance Level 2 (EAL 2). The certification is available on all current Secure Access appliances, 2000 and above. The Juniper Networks Secure Access appliances, which have earned the most awards and industry accolades in the SSL VPN market since its first products shipped in 2001, represent the market’s leading SSL VPN product line. Organizations worldwide have selected the Juniper Networks SSL VPN to help them increase efficiency and productivity. Juniper Networks also continues to be the only SSL VPN provider to have completed multiple, independent security audits and have passed rigorous security audits by Information Security Partners, LLC (iSEC Partners) and Cybertrust, Inc.
