Wavebreak Media Launch Creativity Awards 2009
Stock footage company Wavebreak Media are proud to announce the launch of a new video editing and production competition. With this competition, Wavebreak Media recognise the most talented and creative individuals working in (or studying) video editing, film production or animation. Sponsors for the awards include Logitech, PowerProduction Software and Eat3d, with other sponsors and additional prizes to be added before the closing date of 1st Dec 2009. Over the last couple of years, Wavebreak Media have strengthened their links with 3rd level education establishments, so it’s no surprise that there is a special award for students.
In 2007, Wavebreak Media negotiated a contract with Getty Images, the largest stock distributor in the world. Since then, many other distributor contracts have been secured, National Geographic being one of the household names. Wavebreak Media’s footage has been broadcast nationally by Fox sports (USA) and Big Brother’s Big Mouth (UK) to name a couple.
Sean Prior, CEO stated “With advancements in online video capability and increased internet speeds over the last year, video now seems to be finally developing into a dynamic and hugely exciting medium for creative’s to engage with other people.
There has been an explosion in video use for social media, mainstream media and marketing. From just a handful of people who had a fast internet connection, digital video playback and editing has become accessible to a very wide audience.”
HD footage has become essential for both commercial and amateurs, due to affordable HD home entertainment systems and higher television broadcasting standards. Wavebreak Media have over 8,000 royalty-free stock HD video and animation clips in their online catalogue, which can be downloaded instantly. The free monthly HD video downloads have proved very popular with students and professionals alike.
“We are very excited about recent developments in the world of video and animation, and believe we are providing an interesting challenge to many in the creative community. We also plan to recognise and profile some of the commendable entrants and not just prize winners in the two categories.” said Sean Prior.
