“Knowing what one’s forebears did in life gives a family a sense of continuity as well as hints as to why their own traits are as they are. History, whether of family or of a culture, helps in understanding the why of things and is an important facet of education that must be given adequate study,” the author says.

LitFire Publishing participated in this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair. One of the books featured was James A. Sagerholm’s From Green Hills to Blue Seas: Memoirs of Vice Admiral James A. Sagerholm, USN (Ret.).

The book is a memoir of a young man’s journey from being a midshipman to a vice admiral. Life in the navy is never easy, but James Sagerholm’s legacy touches the lives of not only his family, but of other families connected to the US Navy.

From Green Hills to Blue Seas is a descriptive storytelling at most part. However, its intention is not to incite drama, but to capture historic aspects of the life of a service member.

The event was held on October 19–23, 2016, at Messe Frankfurt (Frankfurt Trade Fair) in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Thousands of authors, publishers, booklovers, and fairgoers took part in the open event.
