Michael Anthony Salon Wins 2013 Hilly Award for Health & Beauty Service of the Year

Michael Anthony Salon was announced the Winner of the 2013 Hilly Award for Health & Beauty Service of the Year at a gala event at Nationals Park in Washington DC, on Saturday, November 16, 2013.

The Hilly Awards, an annual tradition since 2009, are sponsored by CHAMPS, Capitol Hill’s Chamber of Commerce. This year’s event was preceded by two rounds of nominations and voting by nearly 1000 community members across Capitol Hill and the region.

One of twelve business categories on the 2013 ballot, Health & Beauty Service of the Year nominees included Bubbles, Randolph Cree, Soliel 21 Salon Spa, Tammy’s Nails, and Michael Anthony Salon. Bubbles was named Runner Up of the year.

Salon owner Mickey Bolek (aka Michael Anthony) accepted the award and had members of the styling team join him in receiving the award. That group included Nathan Griffin, Da Raborn, and Hunter Barnes.

The Michael Anthony Salon, located near Eastern Market on Capitol Hill, opened in January of 2009, and has been winning awards from their very first year in business. In February of 2013, Michael Anthony Salon won the coveted Washington City Paper’s Readers Poll award for Best Hair Salon in DC. Prior to 2013, they had won two consecutive runner up awards in that same contest, as well as runner up Hilly Awards in 2010 and 2011.
