TestAmerica Experts Provide Insight on Investigative Study of Kingston Fly Ash Release

TestAmerica’s Albert Vicinie, General Manager, and Mr. Larry Matko, Technical Director will present on an investigative data quality and recovery study performed on the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Kingston Fly Ash site at the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) North America 31st Annual Meeting. The poster presentation is planned for November 8, 2010 in Portland, Oregon.

Investigations have been conducted to characterize the high profile Kingston, Tennessee site to meet specific data quality purposes in uncovering the immediate and potential health and environmental impacts of the coal ash release.

In the session, TVA Kingston Fly Ash Release: A Case Study in Environmental Investigations of Coal Ash Toxicity, Mr. Vicinie and Mr. Matko will discuss routine and non-routine methodologies employed, in addition to novel analytical techniques utilized in the Kingston investigation and recovery efforts. The presentation will also include an example of a study performed, which used the adaptation of a published research investigation, combined with routine USEPA methodology, to better characterize the metal content of the ash.
