Epson Korea Receives Two Awards for Reducing Standby Power Consumption

WEBWIRE

Epson Korea (EKL) has again been selected for two awards for its power-saving initiatives by Consumers Korea, an influential NGO concerning standby power.

The Epson Stylus T50 was selected for the prestigious “Energy Winner Award” in the “Standby Power Consumption” category, for achieving low power consumption during “sleep” mode through innovative technologies.

In addition, EKL was one of only six companies to receive an award of excellence (Standby Power 1W Best Partner), for reducing standby power consumption in the inkjet-based SPC category (multi-function printer).

The Energy Winner Award was established in 1997 to encourage companies to produce energy efficient products, and the consumers to use such products. The award is sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, the Korea Energy Management Corporation, and UN ESCAP. The prize-winners are chosen after a rigorous 4-month selection process, and this is the 4th year in a row since 2006 that EKL has won both awards.

Bum-hwan Kim, EKL’s managing director, stated, “It is a great honor to win the Energy Winner Prize this year. EKL has proactively participated in the Korean energy saving program from the first stages. The fact that we have won the prizes every year since 2006 demonstrates the excellent energy efficiency of Epson products. In line with our corporate philosophy, Epson aims to create products which can reduce the burden on the earth.”

The award ceremony will be held on the 23rd of July in Seoul, Korea.
