“The IBA honors professionals who have successfully managed exceptionally challenging legal situations which also have a significant impact on the company’s business and the wider industry,” said Malcolm Webb, Co-Chair of the IBA Communications Law Committee. “Under Mr. Rosenberg’s leadership and direction, Qualcomm was able to successfully resolve complex commercial disputes in quick succession. The IBA is pleased to recognize Mr. Rosenberg’s contributions and we congratulate him on this award.”

“I’m honored to be recognized by the IBA,” said Rosenberg. “It has been my privilege to have worked with Qualcomm’s very talented and capable legal and business teams to achieve effective results for the company and the industry. Despite the complexity of the issues at stake, I was confident that we would find market-driven solutions to resolve commercial disputes with Nokia and Broadcom. Our goal in coming to a satisfactory conclusion of these multi-faceted negotiations was, not only aimed at allowing both sides to get back to business, but also to allow Qualcomm and our customers to focus on continuing to advance the use of communications technologies to the benefit of industry, commerce and society.”

Rosenberg has had extensive experience in law department management, litigation, securities, intellectual property and competition issues. Rosenberg joined Qualcomm from Apple, where he served as senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary. Prior to that, he spent more than 30 years at IBM where he held numerous positions, including senior vice president and general counsel. He has also served as an adjunct professor of law at New York’s Pace University School of Law, where he taught courses in intellectual property and antitrust law. Rosenberg received a B.S. in Mathematics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a J.D. from St. John’s University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Law Review.
