Consortium Provides Training to Installers.

Arlington, Virginia, 2/14/2006, The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA®) announced today that Senior Director of Strategic Relationships Kerry Moyer was elected to serve as president of the Electronic Systems Industry Consortium (ESIC) by the group’s Board of Directors at their meeting in Dallas last week.

ESIC was formed in 1998 by a group of like-minded industry associations to develop a larger and better qualified pool of electronics system installers and to provide the electronics industry with efficient access to the training required to keep pace with technology’s rapid evolution. In response to this need, the Consortium developed the Electronic Systems Technician (EST) curriculum and certification. EST has become a nationally recognized certification for those seeking a career in the electronics systems industry. ESIC promotes the EST curriculum to vocational tech, technical training centers and secondary education institutions. Today, the Consortium provides subject matter experts for updating the EST curriculum; accredits institutions offering the EST curriculum; and monitors government activities affecting licensing and training of electronic systems technicians.

“ESIC’s efforts to bring electronics systems installers closer together through education and certification are admirable,” said CEA President and CEO Gary Shapiro. “We are very proud of Kerry’s election and hard work to grow the industry.”

The Consortium is comprised of five major trade associations: CEA, Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA), National Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA), National Systems Contractors Association (NSCA) and the Security Industry Association (SIA).
