Famed wine making duo, Sarah and Sparky Marquis of Mollydooker Wines of McLaren Vale, South Australia, participated in this year’s Hospice du Rhone wine event, and their auction lot brought the second highest bid for the year during the live auction.

The Mollydooker live auction lot, consisting of a rare magnum format of 2006 Carnival of Love and a case of 2007 Carnival of Love, along with a private tasting event with the winemakers for 40-100 people, brought the second highest bid at this year’s auction selling for $5,900.

Hospice du Rhone hosts the annual Robert Parker California Rhone Tasting event where attendees can expand their knowledge of all 22 Rhône varieties from wineries around the world, among which is Syrah/Shiraz – the variety that Mollydooker Wines have become most famous for since their first release in 2006.

In three short years, Mollydooker has become known not only for their award-winning Shiraz, but perhaps more importantly for their charitable work around the world. In addition to donating similar auction lots to more than 20 auctions in the United States this year alone, Sarah and Sparky Marquis are producing 1,000 cases of a new wine called Sip it Forward and will donate the proceeds to a children’s charity called Transform Cambodia.
