SunSystems Consultant announces new marketing initiative


One of the financial software industry’s most experienced SunSystems consultants has taken the unusual step of setting up a website to market his role as a freelance applications consultant.

In an interview Simon James said “The recession is having a knock-on effect in our industry, such that very few new projects are being started. With a couple of notable exceptions, the majority of the best consultants operate as subcontractors to the software author (Infor) and its channel partners. However, the lack of available work means that these consultancies are now keeping all engagements in-house, resulting in customers being serviced by less experienced and often poorly paid staff. This is a very short-sighted tactic as it means that many of the best SunSystems consultants are considering leaving the industry altogether, with the subsequent loss of years of invaluable experience and irreplaceable knowledge. Rather than bow to the seemingly inevitable, I have set up to provide more choice to prospective customers, particularly those looking for a more personal service.”
