Chubb puts all the pieces together for LEGOLAND

A radio networked fire alarm system from Chubb Fire will soon protect LEGOLAND, the world famous theme park in the United Kingdom that attracts more than one million visitors each year. Chubb Fire is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp (NYSE:UTX).

Chubb has been servicing the extinguishers at the Berkshire-based attraction for three years, and was invited to tender for both a park-wide alarm system and a specific fire detection and suppression system for LEGOLAND’s latest feature, ‘Laser Raiders’ in the new land called ‘Kingdom of the Pharaohs’.

The new fire alarm system that Chubb Fire designed and installed uses radio waves to relay fire and fault indications to the on-site security control room, immediately reporting any incidents to park security officers. Wireless technology significantly reduces the capital costs and disruption of installing a fire detection system, and does not compromise safety.

The trust already established between the two businesses was a major factor in Chubb Fire’s subsequent appointment, according to LEGOLAND’s Maintenance Director, Kieran Maher: “Chubb Fire has given us the confidence that they can deliver all aspects of our fire protection needs, including systems design and installation.”

LEGOLAND Windsor was built on the site of the previous Windsor Safari Park and opened in 1996. It attracted approximately 1.8 million visitors last year to the many themed areas of the park, including: The Beginning, Imagination Centre, Miniland, Duplo Land, Traffic, LEGO City, Land of the Vikings, Wild Woods, Knights Kingdom, and Adventure Land.
