ROANOKE, Va. — ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) has received a $121 million order from the U.S. Army Research, Development & Engineering Command Acquisition Center for the AN/PVS-14, ITT’s most popular night vision goggle. This order represents the fifth largest ever received by the division.

“The Omnibus VII contract has allowed us to provide the Army with night vision goggles that are a critical component for soldiers to safely perform nighttime missions,” said Mike Hayman, president and general manager, ITT Night Vision. “We are excited to receive this latest order, and are even prouder to support our nation’s warfighters.”

The AN/PVS-14 is a high-performance, lightweight and reliable night vision goggle that provides enhanced resolution for target identification. These rugged devices can be hand-held, head- or weapon-mounted, or fitted to a camera. The AN/PVS-14 operates on a single AA battery, and comes equipped with ITT’s proprietary thin-filmed Pinnacle® image intensifier tube. The Pinnacle® tube’s ability to detect available light is more than 10 times the power of previous generations of tubes.

ITT has received Omnibus VII orders for more than 300,000 AN/PVS-14 monocular devices, 3,000 AN/PVS-7 goggles and 100,000 associated spare image intensifier tubes. ITT continues to be the world’s leader in night vision technology. In 2008, ITT became the sole supplier of the Enhanced Night Vision Goggle (ENVG) for the U.S. Army.

The ENVG allows the user to optically overlay thermal infrared (IR) for target detection and image intensification (I2) for target identification. ITT has also developed five prototype ENVG (Digital) which digitally fuse I² and IR allowing for images to be exported into the tactical network. These units will be field tested at Ft. Benning in April 2009. For 50 years, ITT’s contributions to night vision technology have made the company the leader in the field, and a trusted partner to the U.S. Military and allied militaries.

ITT’s Night Vision division, based in Roanoke, Va., is the world’s leading developer, producer and supplier of head- and helmet-mounted night vision solutions and image intensifiers for U.S. and allied military forces as well as the homeland security market. ITT has served the U.S. military with premier research, development, production and logistics for analog and digital fusion solutions for 50 years. ITT delivered its one millionth Gen 3 image intensification tube in 2007. To learn more, visit www.nightvision.com
