Adtec Digital Showcases New High Definition MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 AVC Encoder at NAB 2009
NASHVILLE, TN -- Adtec Digital’s Total ATSC distribution compression, multiplexing and PSIP solution won the TV Technology Star Award for Superior Technology at the 2008 NAB Show. This year Adtec Digital will showcase the new mediaHUB™-HD 422 High Definition encoder at the 2009 NAB Show in booth SL-8220.
The mediaHUB™-HD 422 supports the most demanding MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 AVC contribution, distribution and studio encoding applications. It boasts the ability to encode any combination of HD and SD, MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 AVC with 4:2:0 and 4:2:2 color space. The mediaHUB™-HD 422 supports past, present and future broadcast infrastructures.
“Our strategy is quite simple. At an amazing value, deliver a product with legendary Adtec reliability for the most demanding contribution applications. Make it easy to use, intuitive, automatic and guarantee it works with every IRD,” said Kevin Ancelin, President.
“We are pleased that after just one year of focus on the contribution compression segment, we have delivered hundreds of error free contribution feeds for the most demanding clients and events,” Ancelin said. “With our passion for products, excellence in engineering, and mind for value and real customer service, Adtec has clearly marked its intent to change the contribution compression segment globally. No small feat considering the demands of the market.”
The mediaHUB™-HD 422‘s contribution features include supporting a comprehensive array of MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 AVC encoding profiles, including everything 422. Audio support includes four pairs of SDI and AES audio plus two pairs of analog audio inputs. Audio CODEC support includes dual Dolby Digital and quad MPEG 1 Layer 2 encoding plus rock solid dual channel Dolby E/5.1 passthrough. Ease of use is facilitated via the intuitive front panel, a browser driven by Adtec’s high performance application server and SNMP. A highly robust free to air or BISS 1/E encrypted single channel per carrier (SCPC) DVB compliant MPEG 2 transport stream is output via ASI and GIGE with SMPTE 2022 FEC concurrently.
For distribution applications, the mediaHUB™-HD 422 offers the highest quality MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 AVC Digital Television sound and video 24 - 7 - 365. The mediaHUB™-HD 422 supports ATSC, DVB, MPEG and IPTV platforms delivering a pristine MPEG 2 transport stream including broadcast quality MPEG 2 or MPEG 4 AVC video, Dolby and MPEG audio with excellent lip sync. Adtec’s DTA-3050 enables multiplexing and DVB-CSA or AES encryption with fully dynamic ATSC and DVB service information. When redundancy is required, the DTA adds 1+1 or n+1 capabilities.
For studio applications, the mediaHUB™-HD 422 provides frame accurate encoding. The standard Sony 9-pin interface supports two modes. In controller mode, the mediaHUB™-HD 422 controls a tape device. In recorder mode, the mediaHUB™-HD 422 is controlled as if it were a tape device. The mediaHUB™-HD 422 has the capability to create high and standard definition CableLabs compliant MPEG 2 transport streams, ideal for VOD and DPI content creation.
