Quick Implementation and Scalability Proven with SAP® Business All-in-One Fast-Start Program

WALLDORF, Germany. - SAP AG (NYSE: SAP) today announced success of the SAP® Business All-in-One fast-start program with long-time strategic ally HP in providing mid-sized companies added value to their business management processes. The collaboration provides customers the SAP Business All-in-One solution on HP hardware, enabling them to gain access to leading business applications on an optimized platform. The offering has already provided operational efficiency for its customers. Through the offering, customers in manufacturing, services and wholesale distribution streamline their general and industry-specific business processes, giving them the power of transparency to better help them run their business better while also supporting growth aspirations for tomorrow. In addition, quick implementation addresses the business needs of midsized companies at a time of high competition and given today’s economic environment challenges.

The offering is part of the SAP Business All-in-One fast-start program designed for midsized companies to quickly scope, purchase and implement SAP Business All-in-One solutions. The specific collaboration with HP takes scalable software from SAP and runs it on tailored hardware from HP. As the offering is pre-tested, preconfigured and preinstalled, customers have a complete solution ready for them to use quickly and affordably. All services including implementation and maintenance are part of the offering. Provided through local SAP and HP partners, this offering is available globally.

Customers and partners have seen early benefits of the offering. Delta Elektronika, based in the Netherlands, provides power units for the majority of equipment throughout the world. They are proud of their reputation as being a reliable and solid supplier. Delta’s power units are an integral component in equipment and are often taken for granted. To meet today’s demanding equipment power needs, Delta wanted to implement a fully integrated business application with a fully aligned business flow from offer to order intake and order shipment including production. They chose the joint offering from SAP and HP because they wanted providers that shared the business values of efficiency and reliability.

“We chose HP for its brand and reputation for delivering and servicing infrastructures. SAP was selected because of their responsiveness. The main reason for our selection was the quick implementation time and reasonable price, causing no disruption to our operations,” said Ir. J. Koopman, general manager, Delta Electronika. “Having access to SAP applications on an HP server has increased the caliber of our entire operations. The server is ‘invisible’; it does what it needs to do all day and night with no problems.”

Leading Providers Collaborate to Offer Excellent Performance on a Low-Cost Basis for Midsize Customers
The joint offering from SAP and HP was announced in May 2008. (See May 5, 2008 press release, titled “Reliable and Affordable SAP® Business All-in-One Solution with SAP® MaxDBTM Database and SUSE Linux Enterprise from Novell to Be Preconfigured, Pretested and Preinstalled on HP Systems.”) It was designed specifically for the demands of midsized companies to provide them with a comprehensive, cost-effective, turnkey offering. Partners specifically have found value in the offering because of the quick implementation and the fact that the solution is preinstalled, pretested, preconfigured and comes with a clear implementation methodology which supports smooth projects. This allows them to offer the comprehensive, proven and reliable product that their customers want.

“The offering from two solid vendors is a winning combination for our customers,” said Vincent Jansen, general manager of the Dutch 2B BBIT BV a division of SAP Channel Partner 2B Interactive. “We chose to qualify for the SAP offering because our customers were demanding a complete offering that could be quickly implemented.”

The complete package includes business applications from SAP Business All-in-One and the SAP® MaxDBTM database, which is based on SUSE Linux Enterprise from Novell. The SAP solutions are preinstalled onto the HP BladeSystem c30000 enclosure and HP ProLiant server technology. The HP BladeSystem c3000 running SAP Business All-in-One integrates computing, networking, management, power and cooling, storage and data protection within a single, affordable and easy-to-manage enclosure designed specifically for midsize businesses.

“We are happy to see early success of the SAP Business All-in-One fast-start offering with HP. Working together to deliver solutions to midsized companies is very important to both SAP and HP as this ensures that our customers are getting what they need,” said Patricia Hume, senior vice president, Global SME Indirect Channel & Strategic Alliances, SAP. “The combination of SAP business applications and HP hardware creates a good foundation for our customers to build a solid IT infrastructure to address their specific business needs to remain competitive.”

“Customers want to save money while driving growth,” said Urs Renggli, director, Worldwide Small and Midmarket Business, HP. “The combination of advanced HP BladeSystem technology with SAP Business All-in-One creates a simple, affordable and reliable solution that delivers high availability and performance at low costs. Our participation in the SAP Business All-in-One fast-start program allows HP and our partners to optimize the offering to meet the need of our customers’ specific requirements.”
