Online investment firm offers seminar on trading platforms, tips on making better informed investment decisions

ORLANDO, Fla. – Scottrade, a leading branch-supported online investment firm, is launching its 2009 User Summit program on Jan. 3 with a conference in Orlando, Fla. The workshop will be held at the Sheraton Orlando North and is one of 24 User Summits Scottrade is hosting across the country.

During the workshop, attendees can network with other investors, learn how to easily manage their accounts and effectively use the online investing functions and features of Scottrade’s trading platforms. Topics covered at User Summits include finding opportunities with stock and exchange-traded fund screeners; placing pre-market and after-hours online trades; learning the economic calendar for IPOs, earnings and splits; and setting up alerts for account-specific updates.

“Often, when a customer learns about a new feature or research tool, it opens up a whole new world of trading possibilities,” said Kevin Dodson, director of online financial services at Scottrade. "Our customers want to learn more about tools and research that make it easier for them to make trading decisions and User Summits are a significant piece of the customer education opportunities Scottrade offers to accomplish that.”

The Orlando User Summit is one of several educational opportunities Scottrade offers its customers in the Orlando area. In 2009, Scottrade is also offering smaller branch seminars at its three Orlando-area offices in downtown Orlando, Winter Park and Oviedo. At the free seminars, attendees can learn about a wide range of topics including basic order types, options trading and the features and functionality of the Scottrade Trading Web site.

Registration for the Orlando User Summit and local branch seminars is available online by visiting www.scottrade.com/education or by calling 800-619-SAVE to be automatically directed to a local branch office.
