New science and congress center in Darmstadt, Germany to use Alcatel-Lucent’s voice and data solution delivered by T-Systems

Paris. — Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) and its Alliance partner, T-Systems, have equipped the science and congress center in Darmstadt, Germany, with a complete end-to-end business communications solution.

A complete state-of-the-art, secure, integrated communications solution, including VoIP, wireless LAN and VPN solutions will be provided to the Center with in order to link the scientific community, employees and its customers. A special feature of the darmstadtium’s innovative network will be its direct virtual private network (VPN) link to the scientific network of the University of Technology and the Fraunhofer Institute in Darmstadt. For example, this VPN will provide the time-critical data communication between the individual locations required for multimedia presentations at technical congresses in the darmstadtium.

The darmstadtium developers, who needed a fully integrated, end-to-end voice and data solution, chose Alcatel-Lucent and T-Systems because of the completeness of the solution in combination with key services such as consulting, network design and operations offered by the partnership.

The Alcatel-Lucent architected solution encompasses Alcatel-Lucent OmniPCX Enterprise Communication Server, IP/MPLS and Ethernet-based solutions including the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router for IP routing and Ethernet aggregation, the OmniStack 6850 that supports 10 Mbps, 10 Mbps and 1 Gbps, and the OmniSwitch and OmniAccess WLAN platforms for intelligent switching and routing services at high communication speeds and for mobile access. Alcatel-Lucent’s VPN Firewall Brick® will manage access to the center’s VPN.
