Dr. Richard Burrows Becomes Member of the U.S. EPA Environmental Laboratory Advisory Board
Dr. Richard Burrows, Director of Technical Services for TestAmerica Laboratories Inc., was invited by the U.S. EPA to become a member of the Environmental Laboratory Advisory Board (ELAB). Effective September 1, 2008, Dr. Burrows begins a two-year term, serving with the nation’s most foremost authorities in the environmental lab industry. Invited based on his noted experience, Dr. Burrows will represent the commercial laboratory industry working with others to advance the charter of ELAB.
The objective of ELAB is to provide advice, information and recommendations to the EPA, Office of Research and Development and Forum on Environmental Measurements. Focus is given to the validation and dissemination of methods for environmental measurements, improving communications between the EPA and the stakeholder community and the employment of a quality systems approach that ensures data gathered by the agency is of known and documented quality. Further to their cause it to expand the reach of the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP).
Dr. Burrows is actively involved with environmental methods and technique development through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and American Council of Independent Laboratories (ACIL). Dr. Burrows’ method development work has involved bringing new perspectives to method detection limits (MDLs), quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), environmental reference materials, volatile and semivolatile organic compound methods and HPLC/MS.
