Apartment Owners Want Obama

WEBWIRE

In an informal poll conducted by the American Apartment Owners Association (AAOA), online visitors favored Democratic Nominee Barack Obama by a 51% margin over Republican Nominee John McCain’s support of 49%. The poll, which was conducted through the month of September, was open to all members of AAOA on its website, www.theaaoa.org.

The question posed to more than 50,000 visitors to the website was; If the presidential election were held today, who would you vote for? Each participant in the poll was able to select either McCain or Obama.

“Although we are a non-partisan association, the results were a little surprising to us” states Dan Page, a spokesperson representing the American Apartment Owners Association. “Obama has been polling very strongly with younger voters and minorities. But the demographic of most apartment owners is older and more conservative” continued Page.

Even though the AAOA poll was available to anyone, it is unlikely that many participants in the pole were not income property owners and managers. The implication is if a voting block that is skewed in age, race and more traditional economic values is leaning toward Obama, the general race could result in a landslide for him.

The American Apartment Owners Association is the largest independent group of its kind in the country. AAOA offers relevant news, discounted services, a real estate blog and support services such as tenant screening, educational materials and a large selection of products used by the property management industry. AAOA’s website is www.theaaoa.org
