Arcadis, TestAmerica and CSX Transportation, Collaborate on Derailment Response at the 2008 Railroad Environmental Conference
Experts from Arcadis, TestAmerica and CSX Transportation will illustrate some effective environmental response actions in the immediate aftermath of train derailments. The presentation will be given at the 2008 Railroad Environmental Conference at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on November 2-4, 2008.
In response to the environmental and health risks of hazardous chemical spills caused by derailments, it is critical to properly identify chemical constituents and determine any risk-based exposure. The presentation will be given by Eric Cherry, Jane Kennedy and Bruce Rust of Arcadis with support given by Betsy Beauchamp of TestAmerica and Paul Kurzanski of CSX Transportation. The case study will focus on the integration of key personnel from the railroad, environmental response teams, and the analytical laboratory in conjunction with human health and ecological risk assessment professionals to meet or exceed regulatory requirements and to provide rapid quantification of potential environmental risks.
