Corel Announces Enhanced WordPerfect® Office iFilter Functionality for Easier Enterprise Search

Update Delivers Enhanced Desktop Search and Indexing of WordPerfect Documents

Ottawa, Canada - Corel Corporation (NASDAQ:CREL; TSX:CRE), a leading developer of graphics, productivity and digital media software, today announced that the latest version of WordPerfect® iFilter is now available for download. The new version adds support for leading search vehicles from Google and Microsoft including Windows® Desktop Search (versions 4 and earlier), SQL Server 2008 and Windows® Search. This update to WordPerfect iFilter follows the release of WordPerfect® Office X4 earlier this year.

Search Success Drives Efficiency
Ever-changing technology, new ways to collaborate, and the proliferation of the Web have combined to hit enterprises with a virtual explosion of data and documents. With the updated iFilter, users can now find what they are looking for faster and easier, saving money and boosting productivity.

WordPerfect iFilter enables search tools to scan for text and attributes as well as key portions of text from documents. Documents and the information they contain can be indexed and stored based on keywords, enabling users to perform search queries for particular text strings or phrases.

Beyond the desktop, WordPerfect iFilter also allows users to search WordPerfect documents published to the Internet, an intranet or a shared document management system. Users can search these documents the same way they would search an HTML document, without having to convert WordPerfect documents to HTML.

The new version of WordPerfect iFilter has updated support for Microsoft search tools including the ability to recognize accented characters, UNICODE® characters, and content within subdocument types such as headers and footers, textboxes, comments and captions. Users can also search within metadata file properties such as author, client, editor and keywords.
