New Service Breaks Down Operator and Country Borders Ensuring Seamless Delivery of Multimedia Messages

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — CTIA WIRELESS I.T. & ENTERTAINMENT — Sybase 365, a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), the global leader in mobile messaging services, today further strengthened its leadership in messaging interoperability with the launch of its global Multi-media Messaging Exchange. Named MMX 365, the service creates a new, geographically diverse, multi-nodal MMS ecosystem that offers true international MMS message exchange.

“Today, businesses operate as part of a global economy—so providing our customers with seamless mobile services regardless of geographic location is paramount,” said Marty Beard, president of Sybase 365. “Sybase 365 is the global leader in SMS and with the launch of MMX 365, the company expands its North American leadership in MMS into the global MMS ecosystem"

A number of complex technology challenges must be addressed in order to provide a global MMS solution, including the establishment of a reliable, secure underlying IP network, the ability to provide flexible protocol support and the ability to support a variety of networks, operators and handsets. The international inter-operator MMS Hubbing service acquired by Sybase from Cable&Wireless in an agreement announced in July this year, has been combined with Sybase 365’s own US-based high-volume MMS Exchange to create a truly global connectivity solution that meets each of the complex technology challenges and benefits for mobile operators.
Key features and benefits of MMX 365 include:

* One point of access to deliver to multiple destinations. MMX 365 ensures multi-media messages reach the desired recipient, regardless of which operator is sending or receiving the message or whether a message originated or is received domestically or internationally.
* Flexible connectivity options. Operators can choose to connect to MMX 365 via a secure IP connection or via GRX.
* A future-proof number resolution infrastructure. Sybase 365 operates one of the most comprehensive phone number resolution databases deployed today, meaning operators can rest assured that all information is up-to-the-minute accurate.
* Several value-added capabilities, including automatic scanning of all in-bound MMS messages for known mobile viruses.

New connections to MMX 365 – both via secure IP and GRX are available now. Routes between the USA operators and the rest of the world will be incrementally deployed in the coming months.
