Seagate Steps Forward To Support Foyle Hospice

WEBWIRE

SPRINGTOWN, Northern Ireland.-Around fifty of the walk’s participants, which annually attracts around 500 men in total, are Seagate employees, reinforcing Seagate’s reputation for providing the biggest group of the walk’s participants from a private sector employer. The walk will take the crowds around the bridges of the city - a distance of just under 7 miles.

“This year we have aspirations to grow our number of entrants to approximately 600-700, having made a decision to proactively target the clubs and societies in the area,” says Noel McMonagle, community fundraiser with Foyle Hospice. "Our walks, marathons and running events constitute around 25% of the Foyle Hospice’s annual income. We are delighted that Seagate have once again lent their support to this event and thank them for their ongoing generosity.”

“As Seagate is one of the North West’s largest private sector employers, I am delighted to see that it is continuing its support of our charity’s work to raise funds to help care for those living with cancer and other life limiting illnesses.”

Edward Cassidy, a senior production control planner at Seagate’s Springtown facility who regularly participates in the event, said: “It’s great to see Seagate make a corporate donation to Foyle Hospice and encourage employees to get together to support the run. As individuals we raise further funds through our own sponsorships to do the walk, and I hope this year our participation will help break all previous records for the event.”
