Man Vs. Wild’s Bear Takes Backseat To Real Life Indiana Jones

WEBWIRE

(SEATTLE, WA)—As another season of the hit international TV show Man vs. Wild comes to an end, author Gary Garner can only smile, as for the past five years he has taken part in his own wild adventures, surviving the world’s most tough and desolate areas.

Mr. Garner, a vagabond for the twenty-first century and author of the new book Through the Eyes of Madness, has much in common with Man vs. Wild host Bear Grylls. Just like Bear, Mr. Garner has traveled across deserts and mountains, and through all seven continents, with nothing more than his backpack and his instincts to survive.

“In a spontaneous act, I abandoned all of my worldly possessions and became focused on touring the world as a pauper,” says Mr. Garner. “I just quit my job and embarked on a global journey with nothing more than my backpack—and I never looked back.”

During his exploration, he experienced:
• Witnessing a brutal murder on the South China Sea
• The wrath of an angry mob in the midst of a Nepalese civil war
• His own near-death at the heights of Mt. Everest
• Being ambushed and robbed in Costa Rica by very unusual suspects
• Countless other harrowing escapes that illustrated valuable and moving life lessons

Each chapter of Through the Eyes of Madness is richly detailed with real, life-and-death adventures. Mr. Garner continually put himself in situations that were seemingly un-survivable.

Mr. Garner had the chance to live amongst the Masaii Tribes in Africa, climb frozen glaciers in New Zealand and explore parts of the world that most people only read about in books or see on TV.

“These past few years have been so fantastic and life-altering that even I have trouble believing it,” admits Garner. “But that’s why I kept the journals and constructed the book in the way I did. Now, others can share in the adventure.”
