IBM Completes Acquisition of FilesX

WEBWIRE

ARMONK, NY - Apr 2008: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced it has completed its acquisition of FilesX, a privately held storage software company based in Newton, Mass., and Haifa, Israel. FilesX specializes in continuous data protection and nearly instant data and application recovery software for enterprises and remote/branch offices. Financial terms were not disclosed.

IBM announced a definitive agreement to acquire FilesX on April 10, 2008. The FilesX technology will become part of the Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM) family of products, IBM’s flagship suite of leading data protection and information infrastructure offerings, with proven compatibility in customer environments today.

FilesX has more than 100 customers in the United States and Israel, spanning government, education, healthcare, financial services and manufacturing that rely on FilesX for data protection and recovery.

The FilesX acquisition builds upon the Tivoli storage software portfolio of enterprise data protection and recoverability capabilities by adding continuous data protection of applications, databases, and file servers, and supports business users with near-instant recovery times. FilesX enterprise-level continuous data protection solutions complement IBM’s existing file-based software called IBM Tivoli Continuous Data Protection for Files, which is targeted at SMB customers and individual PC users.
