Video Web Makes Firm’s Historic Preservation Capabilities Visible to the Public

Berwick, ME – Preservation Timber Framing, Inc., a New England-based company focused upon traditional repair of historic wooden structures, announces release of its new video web presence, www.preservationtimberframing.com. The new commercial video web was developed by multimedia studio Brave Boat NET of York Harbor, ME, www.braveboat.net.

Preserving an Art

The primary goal of Preservation Timber Framing, Inc. is to save every wooden barn and church steeple in New England. In doing so, the company preserves the art and skill of traditional builders. PTF, Inc. retains the work of our ancestors through the physical representation of the buildings they created.

Expertise: Barns, Steeples and Other Wooden Structures

PTF, Inc. is capable of all facets of historic preservation. Although the company’s focus is primarily on in-situ repair of timber framed structures, occasionally a building must be removed from its context for restoration. Using comprehensive project management, including full photo-documentation and tagging of the frame elements, PTF can disassemble a building carefully and retain its integrity throughout its relocation to a new home. Arron Sturgis says, “We are not a salvage company. We will not let a building crumble into the oblivion of recycled flooring and hearth beams.” Restoration of wooden barns and steeples is a primary area of expertise.


The Educational Component: Taking Historical Preservation Visual

Another primary focus of Preservation Timber Framing, according to President Arron J. Sturgis, is that of education & community building. After 15 years in business, the company took the next logical step toward fulfillment of this objective. PTF engaged the services of Brave Boat NET to develop a video-driven web presence where the company could share, visually, its enthusiasm and preservation skills with the public. Sturgis says, “It was critical to have a web development partner with the commercial experience to grasp the subtleties of our business and market quickly. From shoot-to-video stream and all the custom development that followed, Brave Boat NET did it with us, in the field, elegantly.” Arron plans to continue developing his company’s video educational archives over time, until the site is a landmark resource in the timber framing industry.
