BASF increases prices for hydrosulfites

WEBWIRE

Effective March 1, 2008 BASF will be increasing sales prices for its hydrosulfites worldwide by at least €120 per metric ton or equivalents in local currencies as contracts allow.

The price adjustment is necessary due to rising prices for key raw materials like sulfur, natural gas and caustic soda as well as persistently high energy and transportation costs.

Hydrosulfites are powerful bleaching and reducing agents. They are mainly used in the paper, textile, kaolin, chemical, pharmaceuticals and food industries.
