Ellen grew up on a farm in southern Minnesota where her early education was in a one-room schoolhouse, an experience that she greatly treasures. In High School she became interested in writing which took a temporary backseat to her desire to become a nurse. She attended the Fairview Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis and upon graduation moved from her native Minnesota to California, an area that had always fascinated her. Nursing afforded her the luxury of “always having a job”. Ellen was able to act on her impulses for different challenges and experiences that included living in New Mexico and Anchorage, Alaska during the “big earthquake” where she had the rewarding opportunity to provide aid during a real, not practice disaster.
She is quick to tell you of her life, “I wouldn’t change any of it even if I could. It’s been a great journey so far and it’s only begun.
After many years as a Registered Nurse she looks back on a successful and rewarding career from staff nurse to department administrator of a large pediatric unit. Not one to sit still, she is already working on her next novel and considers herself extremely fortunate to be able to enjoy the challenge of a second career.
She currently resides in Southern California with her family and considers this home.
