Kodak Presents on Anti Counterfeiting at Graphics Canada

WEBWIRE

Rochester, NY.- Attendees at the largest printing and graphic arts show in Canada, Graphics Canada, will hear from Kodak how they can help their customers take the offensive against counterfeiters. Steven Powell, General Manager & Director, Security Solutions, Eastman Kodak Company, will present the new technologies that provide print service providers simple and effective methods for anti counterfeiting at Graphics Canada’s PrintAction Seminars on Thursday, Nov. 8.

With counterfeiting and piracy representing a $700 billion global problem that impacts virtually every industry and market, print service providers can serve as a first line of defense. Cutting edge technologies from Kodak use invisible markers and digital detectors to authenticate products, thereby protecting companies’ brands by making it easy to distinguish knockoffs from the real thing.

“All kinds of products are being targeted for counterfeiting, from luxury goods and apparel to premium wines and cosmetics,” said Powell. “Printers and graphic arts companies can play a critical role in providing their customers with a reliable and secure authentication solution.”

In addition to his presentation on new proprietary technologies, Powell will also offer insight on using variable data watermarks and other security features for documents with monetary value, and how magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) can be used to check hidden features that can only be read by complex devices.

KODAK Security Solutions include a growing portfolio of security features that can be incorporated into a vast range of products, materials and documents to deliver maximum protection against counterfeiting and diversion. Kodak is already working with customers in a wide range of other industries affected by counterfeiting, including pharmaceuticals, apparel, cosmetics and identification documents.
