WEBWIRE

IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced its IBM Information Server software platform has now been extended to bring new scalability, information consistency and performance to IBM System z customers, providing new flexibility to perform information integration directly on the mainframe.
The introduction of IBM Information Server for System z provides a fully integrated software platform that profiles, cleanses, transforms and delivers information from mainframe and distributed data sources, delivering improved business insight without added operational costs.

“For the first time, customers are getting a comprehensive information integration solution for cleansing, transforming and using all types of information for better business insight,” said Jim Stallings, general manager of System z, IBM. “IBM Information Server on System z also helps over-tasked IT managers be more efficient. It provides System z clients and prospects with simpler tools and drives stronger economic value from the mainframe.”

Driving greater insight for business
IBM Information Server for System z provides a unified foundation for enterprise information architectures, delivering trusted information for key business initiatives such as business intelligence, real-time reporting, data migration, data warehousing, data governance, customer relationship management and service oriented architecture (SOA) projects. The Linux software for System z also provides rich security features, stability, flexibility, interoperability and reduced software costs.

It enables mainframe users to understand disparate data sources, cleanse data to ensure consistent quality, and transform and restructure information. It also provides metadata-driven integration that visually depicts the relationships among data sources and data users, and provides proof of data lineage required by many compliance regulations directly on the mainframe. The industry’s broadest federation support enables IBM Information Server for System z to access multiple diverse data and content sources in real time as if they were a single source.

IBM Information Server will be available worldwide through IBM and IBM Business Partners in November 2007.
