Citibank Philippines "Goes Green" for its Latest Credit Card Campaign

Manila – Citibank’s latest credit card campaign, the “Citibank Free GreenBag promo” supports recycling and environmental protection in the Philippines.

To promote its “green-themed” campaign, Citibank is partnering with SM Supermarkets (one of the largest supermarket chains in the Philippines). Under the joint program, Citibank credit cardholders will receive a free “GreenBag” for every P500 single-receipt purchase of yellow tag items at participating SM Supermarkets.

“The long-lasting, reusable, non-woven Citibank ’GreenBag’ is an environmentally friendly replacement for traditional plastic shopping bags,” said Bea Tan, Citibank’s Cards Business Director.

Ms. Tan added, "Our latest campaign has dual objectives; to help our cardholders enjoy added value as well as enable them to be more environmentally friendly when shopping.

“Though they appear non-threatening, plastic bags and other non-biodegradable products not only endanger marine life, they are also hazards during the rainy season and the cause of many floods in the Philippines.”

Under the “Citibank Free GreenBag Promo,” primary and supplementary cardholders are entitled to receive a free GreenBag upon presentation of the qualifying proof of payment. To redeem, Citibank cardholders simply need to present their receipt together with their Citibank credit card at the claim counter at a participating SM Supermarket.

Citibank cardholders may avail of this offer at the participating SM supermarkets in these locations: SM North EDSA, SM Sta. Mesa, SM Megamall, SM Southmall, SM Bacoor, SM Fairview, SM Manila, SM Cebu, Savemore Jaro 1, SM Delgado, SM Mandurriao, SM Pampanga, SM Davao, SM Cagayan De Oro, Savemore Marikina, Savemore Mactan, Savemore Festival Mall, SM Lucena, SM Baguio, Savemore Elizabeth Mall, SM Makati, SM Dasmarias, SM Batangas, SM San Lazaro, SM Sta. Rosa, Savemore Jaro2, Savemore Angono, SM City Lipa, and SM City Bacolod.

This eco-friendly offer is valid from October 1 to November 30, 2007. GreenBags may be redeemed until January 29, 2008.
