GM customers use the simplest and smartest navigation system on the market to find the season’s hottest destinations

DETROIT.– General Motors OnStar announced today the delivery of their one-millionth OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation route since its launch in the spring of 2006. The company attributes the milestone to subscribers’ increased engagement with the easy-to-use, intuitive system and enhanced availability of Turn-by-Turn capable vehicles in the GM line-up.

“The one-millionth OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation route milestone signifies our subscribers’ enthusiasm for this service,” said OnStar president Chet Huber. “Our customer feedback has shown that the convenience services we offer like OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation, OnStar Vehicle Diagnostics and OnStar Hands Free Calling combined with our emergency services truly provide the suite of services that consumers are looking for to enhance their driving experience. We believe these are things every vehicle should do.”

OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation, a GM exclusive, was first introduced in May 2006 on the Buick Lucerne and Cadillac DTS part of their one-year standard OnStar package. The service allows consumers, with a simple push of their blue OnStar button, to talk to a live advisor, who in turn sends complete turn-by-turn directions to customers’ vehicles through their OnStar system. Audio directions are then automatically played through the vehicle’s stereo as they are needed, triggered by the OnStar system’s GPS capabilities.

OnStar’s Turn-by-Turn Navigation employs an enhanced GPS system that is fully integrated with the vehicle’s ABS module to deliver a more precise positioning solution. In addition, OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation detects when the driver leaves a planned route and automatically offers updated directions to the destination.

Recently, OnStar and MapQuest announced a partnership that will allow OnStar subscribers to plan their driving route online at MapQuest.com and send their destination directly to their vehicle’s OnStar Turn-By-Turn Navigation system. The pilot program for this service, called OnStar Web Destination Entry, began in summer of 2007 and is expected to launch to all OnStar subscribers with Turn-by-Turn Navigation-capable vehicles in early 2008.

OnStar Turn-by-Turn Navigation is now available on nearly every Model Year (MY) 2007 vehicle segment in the GM portfolio. For MY 2008, OnStar will introduce more than three million GM vehicles with Turn-by-Turn Navigation capability including a wide range of models from the all new Chevrolet Malibu to the GMC Acadia and to the Cadillac Escalade.
