Honeywell Introduces New Primary Flight Display for Piston Powered Aircraft

New Bendix/King® Display Incorporates Integrated ADAHRS, HSI
and Weight and Balance Information

Price expected to be under $20,000

OSHKOSH AIR SHOW,- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today that it working with Crossbow Technology Inc. to develop a new Bendix/King® Primary Flight Display (PFD) for piston powered aircraft that interfaces with existing navigation systems and autopilots and offers pilots checklists and weight and balance utility.

“This new PFD will include a built in solid state Air Data Computer (ADC) and Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS), altitude and airspeed bugs and a slaved Horizontal Situation Indicator (HSI),” said Dan Barks, Business Director, GA Operators and Dealers. “Pilots will see a simple intuitive layout, with both a heading and course knob and a display that brings ‘Honeywell’ expertise and experience in “easy to interpret” primary flight display formats to general aviation.”

The Bendix/King® KFD 840 will interface to common general aviation navigation systems as well as existing KAP-140 and KFC-150/200/225 autopilots. The unit will be an 8.4” full VGA LCD display offering excellent brightness and full sunlight readability. The unit is sized to be easily retrofit-able into piston aircraft.

“We see significant interest in the retrofit market for “glass cockpit” technology that makes flying easier and safer such as solid state sensors and a wide horizon. For many aircraft this will allow a pilot to add a second attitude, airspeed and altitude source, improving safety.” Barks said. “And by working with Crossbow Technology Inc. we can allow the piston aircraft pilots to be able to have a certified glass cockpit for under $20,000, a breakthrough price point for that segment.”
